Rodan Tekle is a video editor and digital artist/designer living and working in NYC via Sweden/Eritrea/Sudan. She is also the Co-founder of the digital motion studio STUDIO JUNBI. Before earning her MFA in the field of digital art, she worked several years, in Stockholm – in the professional world of theater and opera. In her ongoing research work, she is mainly interested in exploring the cinematic and documentary themes and possibilities associated with the daily-encountered, lived within a screen environment – looking to understand and visualize the blur between the physical and the virtual, specifically from a woman-centric African diasporic lens.

Rapid Response Project

Tekle’s Rapid Response project is an exploration of what a more innovative infrastructure for redistribution and reparations could look like in the form of “digital, insurrectionary, mutual aid, community financing.” Through her research during Phase 1, she hopes to author a manifesto and design a guide for an open-sourced and ever-evolving model prototype for money organizing.
